Photo Hosting
Also known as photo sharing or image hosting, this online activity has changed the way people of different walks of life around the world keep and share their memories not only with their families and friends but even with new acquaintances and strangers from different parts of the globe. This is made possible through the works of computer and digital technology. Technically, this is done by means of transferring or publishing of digital photos online with the support of websites and applications that assist the uploading and displaying of images. This then allows the user who uploads and displays the photos to share the images with other users privately and publicly.

Photography is not a Crime
At present there are numerous photo hosting sites that offer convenient features to users such as multiple views of images in thumbnails and slideshows, organizations of photos into albums and attachment of captions, comments or “tags.” Some sites also allow for downloading video clips as an additional feature. Some image hosts also allow users to create photo blogs or galleries for easy viewing of images.
Photo sharing sites provide services that may either be for free for users or that may charge consumers directly to host and share photos. The sharing of photos can be done, based on the nature of the site, in three ways: a. peer-to-peer, b. peer-to-server-to-peer and c. peer-to-browser. These image sharing services are also protected from risks of photo fraud and theft through the securing of the user of a username and password for primary and secondary sign-on pages depending on the photo site. These features have been established in order to minimize or avoid the possibilities of users to experience photo fraud and theft with “photo thieves.”
Photo sharing is not only limited to the web and desktops but it is also possible to transfer photos taken using camera phones to photo sharing sties either directly or via MMS application. There are even some cameras that come with wireless networking feature for easier and convenient transferring of images to other devices.
With all these wondrous possibilities to store and share photos with people around the world, creating a global community through photo sharing may just be one simple yet extraordinary leap for mankind.
